Ohara's Low Softening Temperature Optical Glasses are a series of
glasses that have been developed to be molded at lower temperatures
than our conventional optical glasses, while maintaining the same
general optical properties (refractive indices, dispersions, etc.).
These glasses are environmentally safe as they do not contain PbO and
As2O3 in their composition and they allow for a simplified waste stream
disposal.
The Low Softening Temperature Optical
Glasses are used for Ohara's Fine Gobs for molding operations and help
to extend the life of the mold pressing tools by minimizing the
reaction between the softened glass and the mold materials. The Low
Softening Temperature Optical Glasses types are available in strip
form, blanks or Fine Gobs.
